Could high temperatures crack the lens on your glasses?

This morning I left my glasses inside their case in my car with no scratches on them, didn’t put them on or open the case until tonight and noticed they had really bad scratches on them, some looking like cracks. I live in Miami, Fl and the temp. inside a car can possibly get over 100 degrees, I would like to know if there is any way that the heat inside the car could have caused the glass to crack.
