Volkswagen Beetle, or type 1 and is officially known until 1967, is an economy class car. Originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the commission of Adolf Hitler as the second called "people's car" (Volk-Wagen in German). The idea was to have a car at an affordable price for all German households. The official production began in 1938 and ended in 2003.

The original design was equipped with an air-cooled horizontally opposed 4-cylinder cylinder or "flat four" located at the rear compared to the front like most vehicles. Another brand is the body design, which probably gave the car its name. Over the years, some improvements to the model that have occurred, but the architecture remains largely in line with original design of the signature type 1.

Due to the inherent flexibility of its engine platform and opportunities for customization, the Beetle is among the most longer and more elaborate design of automobiles.
