How do you change a lamp in a projection television?

I have 57inch mitsubishi tv and it keeps shutting down on me if i watch it longer then a hour…..So i guess i need to change the lamp…..I have never changed the lamp….can anyone give me exact detail on how to change the lamp? or is this something i should let a professional do?

First off find out what the cost of replacing the lamps, older models have three lamps. Check the owners manual for direction in replacing the lamps. I recommend you just sell or give it away and spend the money on a new Plasma tv. A 50″ plasma tv is now under $1,000 and allot better than the Mitsubishi rear projection tv. I had one that the power switch broke and they wanted $500 to replace it (mostly labor cost), and gave it away and bought a 50″ Plasma tv. Hope this will help you out.
