How to light the bulb or CFL by the car battery? What are the things i need? Please explain in detail.?

In my city there is 12 hours loadshedding per day. Therefore I need to light the 9watt CFL bulbs (qty.4 bulbs) for 4 hours. So, I want to do this by your help.

A car or even a good sized motorcycle battery can easily power that many bulbs for that amount of time.

… 9W * 4 bulbs * 4 hours = 144 Wh.

compared to a typical small car battery is 500 to 720Wh (40 – 50Ah) or motorcycle battery which is about 12Ah /144Wh.

So you need two things: a battery charger and an inverter. The charger can be a low-cost trickle type since you don’t need rapid charge. The inverter can also be small. They sell 50W ones for laptops; this is about as small as you’d want to go. 100W or more would be better.

A couple of tips:

* If your setup is indoors use a sealed battery if possible. Unsealed ones can emit hydrogen while charging which can be explosive. If you can’t do that at least make sure there’s some ventilation.

* Lead-acid batteries work best with trickle charge and last longest with a topping charge. Don’t let them discharge completely as this causes them them to sulfate.

* Put a blocking diode on your charger so that the battery won’t discharge into it when your mains power is off.
