How do i set up my outboard motor so it it doesn’t pull to the side?

Almost all outboards have an adjustable trim tab located above the propeller exceptions are the later V6 Mercs. You can find information in your owners manual usually under trim tab adjustment. Pulling to one side is normal on any single propped outboard motor especially when fully trimmed in but the trim tab can be adjusted to reduce the majority of heavy steering to one side …. normally they pull to the right.
Its also best to trim your motor to the desired trim position on the plane then note which way the motor is pulling.

If your motor is pulling to the right or (hard to turn left) adjust the trim tab to the right from its current position … in other words … if it pulls right adjust to right, if it pulls left adjust to left.

First mark its current position then adjust the trim tab till corrected.
