What are the safety precautions for using MRI equipment?
I’m doing an anatomy project and i need safety precautions for using this equipment. Thanks
Modern 1.5 or 3.0 Tesla magnets are super strong so you must avoid having ferromagnetic materials (most metals) near the machine or the room).
There are abundant signs which caution patients and transporters to keep all oxygen tanks or any medical device containing metal out of the room. Pacemakers are an absolute reason for not allowing MRI. Any history of working with metal fragments, welding would require an x-ray of the skull to ensure there’s no metallic fragments in the orbit that might move. Any non-MRI “friendly” coil in the brain is a contraindication (not allowed).
Basically no metal can come in or near the magnet unless it’s a special type that’s listed as safe with use with mri’s.
